About Sarah-BAE
Anneyeonghaseyo! My name is Sarah, and I love Korea even though I’ve never been to the country. I love Korea so much that most of the food I know how to cook are Korean dishes, I almost exclusively watch Korean shows, I basically only listen to Korean music, my ultimate group is BTS, and I’m trying to learn the Korean language.

One day in 2020, I went to my friend’s house and she showed me a video of seven Korean guys, they were the Korean pop group BTS. I remember the exact date, Friday June 12, because this was when my curiosity was sparked, a black hole was opened and my life has not been the same since.
Now, I can’t say that I am an expert in the topic, I’m very far from it, but I can say that I am a highly curious individual who spends a lot of their free time interacting with Korean content.
Whether it be listening to K-pop, watching Korean videos on YouTube or a TV show, even learning the Korean language on my own, every day I am immersed in Korean content. In fact, if you were to look at my internet browser most likely you’ll see many tabs about some type of Korean related content.
In the beginning, I had so many questions and had no idea where to begin. I also felt really shy to share about my new found interest because Korean content isn’t mainstream here in North America. But I was able to find friends that shared in this interest and with them I was able to express my curiosity and excitement, we were even able to recruit more people to join us.
Today I have a community of people with whom I can gush about new album releases, obsess over Korean dramas and share new recipes. This community has made all the difference and this is why I started “Journey of Sarah-BAE.” In Korea someone is a senior in the industry is called a Sun-BAE and someone who is a junior is called a Hoo-BAE, whether you are my Sun-bae or Hoo-bae in this journey of learning more about Korea,
